일본열도에서는 세형동검, 동과, 동모, 다뉴정문경, 동부, 동착, 동사 등 한반도 세형동검문화와 동일한 청동기들이 확인되고 있다. 이러한 청동기 조합은 한반도 세형동검문화의 발전기에 속하는 것이다. 좀 더 세부적으로 살펴보면, 일본열도의 출현기 세형동검문화 관련 청동기들은 한반도 세형동검문화의 발전Ⅰ기 말~발전Ⅱ기 초에 해당한다. 그래서 세형동검문화가 일본열도에 최초로 파급되는 시기는 기원전 3세기 말~기원전 2세기 전엽으로 추정된다. 일본열도에서 출현기의 세형동검문화 유적들은 북부 규슈 연안과 이키섬 일대에 분포하고 있어서 세형동검문화는 이 지역에 최초 파급된 것으로 생각된다. 또한 한반도에서 발전Ⅰ기와 발전Ⅱ기의 유적들이 중서부지역권과 서남부지역권에 밀집분포하고 있는 점을 감안하면, 세형동검문화는 중서부지역권이나 서남부지역권에서 일본열도로 파급되었을 것으로 추정된다. 조선시대 표류에 대한 연구, 한ㆍ일간 고대항로에 대한 연구와 함께 일본열도에서 세형동검문화 유적들의 분포현황을 분석해보면, 세형동검문화의 파급경로는 한반도 서남부지역권에서 연안지역의 지형지물과 섬들을 기점으로 삼아 동남쪽으로 나아가다가 쓰시마를 바라보면서 이키섬에 이르고, 이어서 북부 규슈 연안에 다다랐을 것으로 생각된다.

The Slender-bronze-dagger Culture originated in the midwestern region of the Korean Peninsula and spread to other regions of the peninsula and the Japanese archipelago. A comparison of artifacts discovered in Korea and Japan shows that the Slender-bronze-dagger Culture spread from Korea to Japan between the late third century BC and the second century BC. The possible route of its spread is assessed by analyzing articles recording ship drift in the Joseon Dynasty, ancient seaways between Korea and Japan, and the distribution of remains related with the Slender-bronze-dagger Culture. The Slender-bronze dagger Culture first started to spread to the coast and islands along the southwestern region of the Korean Peninsula. It then spread to the Tsushima and Iki islands. It finally reached Karatsu and Fukuoka of northern Kyushu.
