음식문제는 현재 환경윤리학계의 중요한 쟁점이다. 이글은 먼저 현대 식량체계의 근간이 되는 산업형 농업을 개괄하고, 그것의 문제점을 살펴볼 것이다. 둘째, 산업형 농업에 대한 대안으로 부상하고 있는 유기농업의 가능성을 살펴본다. 셋째, 유기농업의 철학적 배경으로 최근 등장하고 있는 농경주의와 목가주의가 시사하는 바를 탐구한다. 넷째, 이와 관련해 가치 판단의 문제가 제기되는데, 이때 우리에게 요구되는 의사결정의 방법은 무엇인가 하는 점을 고찰할 것이다.

Food is currently the important issue in environmental ethics. Firstly, this article will outline the industrial agriculture, and examine its problems. Secondly, we will discuss the possibility of organic farming, as an alternative to the industrial farming. Thirdly, we will examine the implication of agrarianism and pastoralism which are the philosophical foundation of organic farming. Lastly, we will examine how various values conflict with each other regarding the food issue, and how we should make decision.
