The present paper reviewed research on the expressions of uncertainty in doctor-patient communication. Topics were discussed such as verbal vs. numerical expressions of uncertainty, selective framing effect, and probability vs. frequency format of uncertainty. The use of numerical expressions and frequency format of uncertainty was recommended. When single numeric expression of uncertainty is too demanding, the range of probability may well be used.
