21C는 산업혁명(하드웨어)과 정보혁명(소프드웨어)의 시대를 거쳐 융합과 창의력을 바탕으로 한 창조혁명(브레인웨어)의 시대로 예측되고 있으며, 다변화된 환경 속에서 많은 예술인들의 관심이 융복합(The Convergenc) 예술에 쏠려 있다고 해도 과언은 아닐 것이다. 융복합을 우리의 일상생활에서 찾아보면 카카오톡(sns+ICT) SF영화(문화+ICT) 페이스북(sns+IT)등이 있으며 융복합의 풍랑 속에 현대인들에게 필수불가결한 존재가 되고 있으며, 이처럼 첨단화된 과학기술은 예술계에도 변화와 수용의 압력을 가하고 있으며, 이러한 것은 시대의 자연스런 흐름이기도 하다. 최근 한국에서는 형태적이든 내용적이든 장르간, 영역간 결합을 포함한 소위 융복합의 틀에 맞추어진 작업에 All-in 하는 듯 보이나, 그에 따른 부조리들도 생겨나고 있다. 융복합이라는 것은 예전부터 장르나 분야를 달리해 왔을 뿐, 예술계에서 보편적으로 이루어진 작업이라고 말할 수 있다. 융복합은 현대예술계의 화두이며 시너지 효과를 가장 크게 가져 올 수 있는 만큼 탄탄한 지식과 방법론을 수반한 새로운 형식의 다양한 공연들이 제작되어져야만 순수공연예술계에 있어 희망의 가교 역할을 할 수 있을 것이다. 융복합 교육에서 진정한 예술가는 소통이 필수이며, 자기분야에서 능통한 실력을 겸비하여 기능뿐만 아니라 자기분야를 충분히 설명하고 응용하여 타 분야에 자극을 줄 수 있어야 한다. 미래의 대학교육은 단순히 영역확장이나 새로운 학제를 개발하는 것이 아니라 학생들에게 깊이 있는 교육과정을 제공해야하며, 그러기 위해선 대학이나 교육기관의 커리큘럼에서 연관된 분야들이 전문성을 가지고 공연예술계의 새로운 심화된 학문으로 거듭날 수 있도록 시스템을 구축해야 할 것이다.

The 21st century is anticipated as the era of creative revolution (brainware) based on the fusion and the creative power through the era of the industrial revolution(hardware) and the information revolution(software), and it will not be an expression of exaggeration that if we say many artists are inclined to the convergence art in the social environment changed in many aspects. When we try to find the cases of convergence in our daily living environment, we can find there are such kind like Kakao Talk (sns+ICT), SF movie (culture +ICT) and Facebook (sns+IT). In the wind and waves of the convergence, these new trends become the absolutely necessary elements of daily living to the people of modern society and the ultra-modernized science technology brings an oppression to the art world as of change and acceptance. This may be a natural flow of the era. Recently, in Korea, it seems the contemporary artists are all joining in the works framed in the so called convergence including the combination of genre and field, regardless of its form or its content, however, we can see the absurdity also appears by this trend. Meanwhile, the convergence is not a new work but it is the work which has been tried widely in the art world from some decades ago, being only changed in its genre or field. Truly, the convergence is the topic of the modern art world and because this may bring a big synergy effect, thus this can take the role of the bridge of hope in the pure performance art world only in condition that various performances of new form are realized, which are based on the full knowledge and the methodology. In the education of convergence, the element absolutely needed to the true artist is the communication, so, the artists should keep the proficient ability in their fields, but also they can fully explain their fields and give the stimulation to other fields. The education of college in the future should not be ended in a simple extension of section or a development of new title of study. The new education should provide a profound procedure of education to the students, and, to do this, a new system must be organized so that the fields connected in the curriculum of the colleges or the educational institutes can have the specialities and be born again as the new profound studies.
