The purpose of Japanese Literature Education is to teach students how to read, understand Japanese Literary works in Japanese and analyze them. Therefore, the basic knowledge of Japanese Literary works that students have accumulated from reading Korean Translations has a positive effect on learning them in Japanese. This is a research on what kind of Japanese Literary works N University students tend to read. It includes only Japanese novels on the best-seller list from 2004 to 2015 that Kyobo Book Centre provided. According to the list and a survey of 92 students, Mystery and Light novels are the two most popular genres of all. And the statistics show that college students ranging from freshman to senior tend to read Haruki Murakami, Kaori Ekuni, Hideo Okuda, Kyoichi Katayama, Keigo Higasino. If the textbooks for Japanese Literature courses were selected in accordance with this reading tendency, Japanese Literature Education will be conducted in a more effective way.
