This paper aims to compare and analyze inquiry scopes of the four kinds of Biology textbook I and the seven kinds of Biology textbook II based on the 6th curriculum. The results are as follows: 1. The 5th curriculum. has shown that the number of inquiry activities in the textbook of Science I is 13.8 and Biology II 19.3. On the other hand, the average number of inquiry activities in the 6th curriculum is 30.5 and f6.6 in Biology I, II respectively. It indicates that inquiry activity in the 6th curriculum has increased depending on the inquiry scopes more than twice as many as that of the 5th curriculum. 2. The 6th curriculum has emphasized inquiry activities connected with the actual life, has introduced STS materials as activity topics for stimulating interests and creativity of the students and has put more emphasis on the out of laboratory activity than that of traditional laboratory. Moreover, the conceptional inquiry` activity of Biology I (20.0 times) and Biology II (26.2 times) in the 6th curriculum has considerably increased as compared with that of Science I (2.0 times) and Biology (6.0 times) of the 5th curriculum. 3. According to the analysis of the inquiry activity by SIEI, most of inquiry activities have merely contained the manipulating apparatus, the observation, the measurement and the gathering and organizing data such as recording data. It implies that as inquiry pyramid of Biology I, II showed the type I and that the low level of inquiry activities has increased. 4. As an analyzed result of the structure of the inquiry activity, the competition and cooperation scale have shown more emphasis on the common tasks, no pooled results and the common tasks, and pooled results. The discussion scale has consisted of activities without discussion required among the students. The openness scale has shown the activities with solving problems, procedures and answers presented, or with solving problems and procedure given. The inquiry scope scale had the activities to demonstrate or verify the contents of the text, or to extend the contents of the text. 5. While the inquiry index of the 5th curriculum showed the middle level (15∼24) such as Science I (15.9) and Biology (17.0), the 6th curriculum has indicated the higher level inquiry index (25∼34) with inquiry scope extended, for example, Biology I, II showed 32.1 and 26.1 respectively.
