This paper examines an interesting asymmetry of A`-dependencies observed in double object constructions. The goal wh-phrase is prohibited from undergoing A`-movement but allowed to move when it is followed by the theme wh-phrase. Previous accounts, such as Lohndal (2011), fail to account for the contrast. I argue that Richards` (2010) distinctness condition may resolve the asymmetry with an assumption that the same functional head cannot be linearized in the same spell-out domain. While A`-movement of the goal wh-phrase is not motivated once it reaches a checking domain, distinctness triggers A`-movement of the goal wh-phrase to SpecCP with another wh-phrase in the same spell- out domain.
