현대와 가장 가까운 시대는 조선이다· 조선은 예를 중시한 유교 국가였으므로 예에 관한 예학이 발전하였다· 주자의 『家禮』, 김장생의 『家禮輯覽』, 이재의 『四禮便覽』이 조선의 대표적인 예에 관한 서책이다· 이들 예서에서 중시한 四禮 중에 昏禮가 있다· 『국조보감』에서는 삼강의 근본이 되는 것이 ‘혼례’라 하였고, 『승정원일기』에서는 혼례 길월로 8월을 선택하였으며, 『고종실록』에서 길일을 택해 혼례를 올린다는 기록은 혼례 택일의 중요성을 의미하는 것이다· 현대의 혼례에서 신랑신부의 입장 및 폐백에서 유념해야 할 것이 있는데 그것은 ‘동남서녀’ 원칙이다· 이는 동양의 음양오행설에서 남자는 양이고 여자는 음이기 때문으로, 남자는 동쪽에 서고 여자는 서쪽에 서야 한다· 조선후기의 推擇書인 『協吉通義』 · 『選擇紀要』 · 『涓吉龜鑑』 · 『天機大要』에서의 혼례 택일은 길년 → 길월 → 길일 → 길시 순으로 하게 된다· 지금까지 조선시대 사서에서의 혼례의 중요성, 예서 혼례에서 조상님께 감사하는 禮 정신 그리고 조선후기 추택서의 혼례 택일을 고찰한 결과, 혼례의 禮 정신과 추택서에 있는 혼례택일 이론이 현대에서도 여전히 유용한 가치가 있을 것이라고 생각된다·

These etiquette books attache importance to wedding ceremony. ``Kugjo Pogam(Handbook for early Chosun Dynasty) described that wedding ceremony is the basic of ``Samgang(Three Bonds)``. ``Sungjongwon Ilgi(Royal Secretariat Diary)`` selected August as the best month for wedding ceremony. ``The Annals of King Kojong`` described that wedding ceremony should be held after choosing the best day. This refers to the importance of choosing the best day for wedding. In the wedding ceremony Chapter of ``Sarye Pyonram`` written in the late Chosun Dynasty, there is a record that the new couple reported their marriage to the ancestor and expressed their thanks.
