Wiki is often portrayed as an effective tool to support the new constructivistic paradigm in education by permitting learners to engage in collaborative group work and new knowledge creation. To achieve these instructional potentials, sound instructional design and scaffolding strategies must be carefully integrated in a wiki-based collaborative environment. This study attempts to investigate effective scaffolding strategies for wiki-based activities in a Japanese Language class, adopting an action research method.
