This paper presents a case study concerning the success that may affect group creativity training in an elementary school education. The case was drawn from two Korean elementary school teams that won the 2011 Destination Imagination (DI) global tournament, the gold (1st) and special medals, respectively. In order to delve into the subjective experiences of the students and teachers concerned, we carried out a series of in-depth interviews with 13 students and 2 teachers, individually and as a group. From the analysis of interview data, we found out five salient factors that had influences on group creativity training: clear objective, group dynamics, individual characteristics, teacher’s commitment and support from parents and school. These findings may provide teachers or trainers of creativity with practical considerations to develop creativity in a group setting.
