The purpose of this study was to investigate the role of educational technology for instructional innovation During the preceding decades, there have been many studies concerning instructional innovation to increase the effectiveness and quality of school learning. Particularly, the various innovative projects or programs for classroom have been developed and applied until this time in terms of using principles. procedures, and technniques of educational technology, such as Mastery Learning. ATI, IPI, CAI ect, etc But among those studies, most of them have failed to change and improve educational practice in relation to instructional level. This failing is fundamentally ascribed to the inappropriate applying educational technology to school problems which need to be innovated. That is, most of educational technolgists have tended to lose sight of the wholistic view that is central to educational technology -systems approach A systems approach must be understood not parts of a system but totality. It means a viewpoint of wholeness and therefore must not look at a system only from the standpoint of its partial efficiency and functioning one or at best two factors. but more importantly. one must find and study its whole effectiveness from the viewpoint of interrelationship functioning the various factors The major problem facing educational technology is a failure to grasp and ad Upon one of its central tenets-a systems approach to instructional innovation at the classroom level. Here, this proplem was regarded as the limitations of the “traditional model” Consequently, the limitations must be solved by means of developing any applying the “technological model”, which implies indigenous systems approach to instructional process" In conclusion, it is necessary for us to understand the full implications of systems approach to establish the role of educational technology in contributing to the innovation of instructional system
