In order to obtain the ideal biology curriculum for Korean high school biology education, an analytical study on the 4th editions of the BSCS textbooks in American high schools were done and the comparison of BSCS with Korean high school biology textbooks and English Nuffield biology were carried out. As a result, the followings were found: 1. the themes of the 4th edition of Yellow version covers mainly $quot;structure and function$quot; and $quot;genetic continuity$quot; and the levels, $quot;individual$quot; and $quot;tissue and organ.$quot; 2. In the 4th edition of Blue version, the themes are stressed on mainly $quot;genetc continuity$quot; and the levels, $quot;individual$quot; and $quot;tissue and organ$quot;, exihibiting molecular biology trend. 3. In the 4th edition of Gree version, the themes are stressed mainly on $quot;organism and environment$quot; and levels, $quot;community$quot; and $quot;individual$quot;, stressing ecological aspect. 4. The level of the $quot;tissue and organ$quot; and $quot;individual$quot; are emphasized in the 4th editions than the older editions of BSCS so that the weakness of the BSCS textbooks were reinforced. 5. The Korean high school biology thextbooks concentrate on $quot;structure and function$quot; in the themes and $quot;individual$quot; and $quot;tissue and organ$quot; in the levels, implying that Korean high school biology textbooks exhibit a part of the modern biology feature but they dot no show any inquiry scientific trend in method of science education which is the unique trend of BSCS. 6. Ir, the second editions of Nuffield Biology, the theme covers $quot;structure and function$quot; and biology as an inquiry science. 7. It is desirable to make reference an aspect of modern biology of the 4th editions of improvement of the ideal biology education curriculum in Korean high school.
