이 글의 목적은 북한 영화사 연구의 현황과 과제를 짚어봄으로써 북한 영화 연구의 활성화에 기여하는 것이다. 북한 영화 연구는 2000년대 초중반 활기를 띠면서 북한 영화사 연구로 이어졌다. 북한 영화사에 대한 연구는 2015년 현재 대략 9편으로 확인된다. 이 연구들은 연구 환경이나 연구자의 시각과 접근법에 따라 다양한 차이를 보인다. 성과적 측면은 북한 문헌만을 대상으로 영화사를 집필할 수밖에 없었던 1989년 이래 2007년에 이르러서는 사회사를 접목하거나 남북영화사를 비교하는 등의 노력으로 이어졌다는 것이다. 향후 과제는 선행 연구가 ‘예술영화’에 집중되어 있다거나 시기를 구분하는 일관된 기준을 제시하지 못하고 있는 한계를 극복해 나가는 것이다. 또한 영화사 연구의 기초자료를 축적하고, 그런 가운데 연구자의 역량을 높여나가는 것이다. 꾸준한 북한 영화 연구가 사회문화사를 반영한 영화사 연구로 이어졌던 이명자의 사례처럼 다양한 시각과 방법을 접목할 수 있는 연구 역량이 축적될 수 있는 사회적 조건 및 환경 또한 마련되어야 할 것이다.

In this study, it is to find the achievements and challenges that have studied the history of North Korea movie. North Korea film study has been activated from the 2000s. About 9 more is confirmed in 2015 now. This study is based on the viewpoint and approach research environment and researchers, there are various differences. The results of historical research of the North Korean movie is as follows. In 1989, it was not only to write the history of the movie to target only the North Korean literature. However, or a combination of social history in 2007, began to compare the history of South Korea and North Korea movie. The future of the problems are as follows. It is required consistent basis for distinguishing timing of the movie history. There must be able to adapt the various genres of North Korea movie. Lee myung-ja steadily studied the North movies, it could be a movie that reflects social cultural history historical studies. Thus, social conditions and environment in which research capabilities capable of combining the various perspectives and methods are able to accumulate must be provided.
