본 연구는 감각통합 프로그램이 정신지체아동의 물체조작기능에 미치는 영향을 알아보기 위하여 실험군 12명, 통제군 12명 총 24명을 대상으로 그 효과를 검증한 것이다. 감각통합 프로그램은 20주에 걸쳐 주3회씩, 일일 40분간 전체 60회 실시되어졌으며 실험군과 통제군의 변화를 측정하기 위해 1차시(0주), 2차시(10주), 3차시(20주) 세 차례에 걸쳐 얻은 결과를 one-way ANOVA와 t-test로 분석했다. 본 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 실험군은 감각통합 프로그램 실시 후 물체조작기능의 치기, 제자리 튀기기, 받기, 차기, 던지기, 굴리기의 점수가 모두 향상된 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 감각통합 프로그램 실시 후 집단내의 시기별 비교에서 실험군에서만 유의한 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났으며, 집단간의 시기별 비교에서는 치기, 제자리 튀기기, 받기, 차기, 던지기, 굴리기에서 2차시와 3차시에 유의한 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이상의 결과를 토대로 감각과 지각 기능 개선에 초점을 두는 감각통합훈련이 정신지체아동의 물체조작기능 향상에 도움을 줄 수 있을 것이라 추론한다.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of sensory integration program on object control skills of children with moderate mental retardation. The subject were 24 children with mental retardation. The 24 children were divided into t대 groups. One group of 12 were in an experimental group and the remaining 12 in a control group. To find out and changes of their object control skills, a sensory integration program was executed to the exercise group three times a week, for forty minutes a day over twenty weeks. Before appling this program, was measured the object control skills for each group. After ten weeks and twenty weeks their abilities were remeasured using the same method as before. The object control skills were tested using the TGMD-2. The collected date was analyzed using one-way ANOVA, t-test which had been on SPSS-WIN 11.0 program. Results of the study were described as follows: First, the experimental group improved after executing the program in striking a stationary ball, stationary dribble, catch, kick, overhand throw, underhand roll of object control skills. Second, in comparison within the group, it showed significant difference only in the experimental group, and in comparison among the group, it showed significant difference in the second and third periods.
