The recreationist-environment fit (R-E fit) is the compatibility between recreationists and recreation environments that is present when one entity provides what the other needs and/or recreationists and environment managers share similar values. The components of the R-E fit, namely supplementary fit, requirements-abilities fit, and needs-supplies fit. Recreationists delight refers to the positive emotional response to surprising leisure experience in specific recreational settings. Some connections may exist between R-E fit and recreationists delight. However, little attention has been paid to investigate the relationships between these two constructs. Accordingly, this study proposed and tested the relationships between R-E fit (including its six dimensions) and recreationists delight (including its three dimensions). This study chooses recreationists who usually play golf attending a specific golf course in North Taiwan as the sampling population. A convenience sampling is used to select the sample. Data were collected from January 20 to February 24, 2014. The procedure resulted in interviewing 500, and 356 effective questionnaires were analyzed. Regression analysis was used to test two hypotheses. The findings showed that recreationist-environment fit has a significant positive impact on recreationists delight. Furthermore, all dimensions of R-E fit are also predictors of three dimensions of recreationists delight. These findings have managerial implications and provide useful reference data for future research.
