이 글은 중·고등학교 도덕 및 생활과 윤리 교과서에 나타난 효 관련 내용을 중심으로 효 교육 내용, 효 교육의 비중 그리고 효 교육 방법 등 효 교육에 대한 교육적 관심들에 대해 살펴본 것이다. 이를 위해 중학교 도덕교과서와 고등학교 생활과 윤리교과서를 대상으로 하였다. 먼저 효 교육의 내용은 도덕의 경우자녀는 부모의 사랑에 보답하기 위해서 효도해야 하고, 자녀는 부모의 사랑을 잊지 않고, 부모의 마음을 편안하게 하려고 끊임없이 마음을 써야 한다는 내용으로 구성되어 있었다. 생활과 윤리의 내용의 경우 부모의 헌신에 감사하는 마음을 갖고 효를 실천해야 하지만 효를 자녀의 일방적 의무로 강요하는 것은 바람직하지 않다. 그리고 올바른 효의 실천은 부모는 자녀에게 자애를 베풀고 자녀는 기꺼이 효를 실천하는 호혜적 원리를 바탕으로 해야 한다. 그 외 효를 행하는 마음 자세와 진정한 효의 의미 그리고 이웃사랑을 위한 도덕적 기초로서의 효에 대해 다루고있었다. 효 관련 내용이 차지하는 비중은 한 두 단락 정도로 매우 빈약하고 단편적으로 다루어지고 있었다. 효 교육을 위한 교육방법 역시 다른 내용과 다른 특별한 방법이 제공되고 있지는 않았다. 인간은 ‘관계’속에서 비로소 인간의 모습을 갖추어 가고 그 관계맺음의 중요한 가치가 효임을 생각할 때 지금과 같은 효에 대한 교육적 상황은 인간관계에 좋지 않은 영향을 미칠 수 있다는 점에서 우려가 된다. 따라서 효에 대한 관심은 인간에 대한 관심이라는 점을 생각하여 교육과정 편성 시 효 교육의 비중을 확대할 필요가 있다고 생각한다. 효의 가치는 사라져서는 안 될 인류의 중요한 가치다. 따라서 학교라는 제도적 교육기관에서 효 관련 교육에 대해 관심을 기울이는 것은 인간관계의 정상화라는 측면에서 의미 있는 일이다.

The purpose of this article is to discuss the educational concerns for filial piety - education like contents, proportion of filial piety - education or ways to teach filial piety. And these things are based on contents about filial piety - education which are shown in moral or ethics textbook of middle and high school. For this purpose, this article explores ethics textbook of middle and high school. First of all, in the case of moral textbook, the contents of filial piety - education are composed of contents like that children should keep a memory about parental love and should be dutiful for their parents in return for their love, and also that they need to make an effort to always make their parents comfortable. And the contents about filial piety of ethics textbook are composed of contents like that children should serve their parents with a thankful heart for parents’ commitment rather than with a sense of ethical obligation, and authentic filial piety ought to be based on the reciprocal principles that parents give affection and children put filial piety into true practice in return for that. And the contents also include that attitude of mind for children who would be filial, real meaning of filial piety and treat filial piety as a basis for loving our neighbor. But in those textbooks, relatively low percentage of contents focus on filial piety except for one or two paragraphs. And those paragraphs are not just deficient but also fragmentary in various ways. Besides, those contents don’t provide a differentiated ways for instructional methods to teach filial piety - education. Filial piety - education in these times can negatively affect our relationships inasmuch as human can be suitably qualified in relations with others and the most important value of those relations is filial piety. So increasing the importance of filial piety - education is needed when organizing education courses, considering interest in filial piety actually means interest in human beings. The value of filial piety cannot be forgotten or ignored because it is significant value of all human beings. Therefore concerns of school as educational institution for filial piety - education are very valuable, looking at those concerns from the side of normalization for human relations.
