We report a case of nevus of Ota newly developed in twenty six-year-old man who was successfully treated with laser surgery thirteen years ago. The new lesion appeared on the ipsilateral forehead but beyond the previously treated sites. There was no trauma history such as a contusion or sunburn. Histological findings revealeddermal melanocytes and also detected several small and round cells in the dermis. The cells expressed NGFRp75 and OCT4, but not melanocyte markers, suggesting they are multipotent dermal stem cells. These findings suggested possible differentiation of dermis-derived stem cells into functional melanocytes, which might play a role in the reappearance of nevus of Ota.
