Mycobacterium abscessus (M. abscessus) is an acid-fast bacillus classified as a pathogenic \"rapid growing\" nontuberculous mycobacteria. It is an uncommon cause of human disease, but it can cause skin and soft tissue infection after skin injury following inoculation, minor trauma and surgery. In recent, the chance of M. abscessus infection is increasing because of septic procedure ofunlicensed medical service suppliers or herb doctors. We report here on a 40-year-old female who presented with tender erythematous cutaneous nodules on her right cheek and nasolabial fold. She had history of taking embedding therapy in a oriental clinic for cosmetic purpose. Histologically, dermal mixed inflammatory cell infiltration were observed and M. abscessus was identified via the mycobacterial culture and PCR hybridization method. We performed pus drainage, with oral clarithromycin and sulfamethoxazole for 4 months. The patient``s lesion healed leaving small concave scars and hyperpigmentation.
