Fibrous hamartoma of infancy is a rare benign mesenchymal tumor which usually occurs in the first 2 years of life. Fibrous hamartoma of infancy is microscopically composed of three components: (1) trabeculae composed of fibrous tissue; (2) primitivemesenchyme; and (3) mature adipose tissue. The distinctive triphasic histologic features of the fibrous hamartoma are important for diagnosis. An 1-year-old Korean female infant presented with nontender, solitary, firm grayish nodule on the left side of the lower back. Multiple coarse hairs were present on the surface of the nodule. The punch biopsy was performed from a nodule. Histopathologic examination of the lesion revealed the foci of fibrous trabeculae, myxoid mesenchymal tissue, and mature adipose tissue, which were arranged in an organoid pattern. These histologic findings were characteristic of fibrous hamartoma of infancy. In addition, hyperplasia of eccrine glands were present within the lesion. The present case demonstrates the fibrous hamartoma of infancy with the addition of changes in eccrine glands, which have rarely been reported in the previous cases. We experience a case of fibrous hamartoma of infancy with eccrine gland hyperplasia and suggest that this could be used as an auxillary feature at diagnosing the fibrous hamartoma of infancy.
