뉴미디어가 가져온 예술 환경의 변화로는 새로운 테크놀로지와 새로운 장치들의 등장으로 가시적으로 드러나는 변화도 있겠지만 그보다 더 중요하게 살펴보아야 할 것은 우리를 둘러싼 뉴미디어 환경으로 인하여 변화되고 있는 예술의 개념과 지각 방식의 변화이며, 이에 따른 공동체 내 예술의 위상 변화, 예술의 매체 특정성과 예술언어의 변화이다. 이러한 관점에서 새로운 테크놀로지로부터 촉발된 뉴미디어 환경이 예술 환경과 장르문법에 어떠한 변화를 가져왔으며, 그 결과 한국희곡의 새로운 세대들의 글쓰기에는 어떤 영향을 가져왔는가를 고찰한다. 이를 위하여 뉴미디어를 둘러싼 다양한 학자들의 이론을 예술 환경의 변화라는 측면에서 정리한다. 그리고 이를 바탕으로 하여 뉴미디어 환경 하에 놓인 한국 희곡문학의 변화를 최근 십년간 등장한 몇몇 작가들의 작업을 중심으로 살펴본다. 한국 희곡문학계도 2000년 이후 등장한 새로운 세대들은 이전 세대의 극작과 다른 경향을 보인다. 한국희곡의 ``새로운 글쓰기(new writing)``라 명명할 수 있는 이들은 극작가이면서 동시에 연출가라는 특징도 공유하는데, 박상현, 최진아, 성기웅, 윤한솔 등이 대표적으로 주목해야 할 창작자들이다. 이들의 작업 방식과 주제의식은 서로 다르지만 몇 가지 점에서 뉴미디어 시대의 특징을 보인다. 그것은 선형적 극 구성의 해체, 전통적인 작가가 아닌 기획자/고정자로서의 특징, 자기반영성(메타 드라마적 특징), 허구와 현실의 경계 해체, 탈장르적 경향 등으로 정리할 수 있다.

Changes in theatrical performances resulting from new media include visibly expressed changes from the introduction of new technologies and devices. However, what should be examined more importantly is the concept of art that is being changed because of the new media environment surrounding us and the change of perception, as well as the resulting change of the status of art in a community and changes in art media specificity and art language. From this perspective, this study will examine what kind of changes the new media environment resulting from new technologies had on art environment and genre, and what kind of influences such results had on the writing of new generations of Korean drama. For this, the various theories of scholars on new media were rearranged from the perspective of changes in the art environment. And based on this, changes of Korean drama literature in the new media environment were examined focusing on the works of several authors in the past decade. In the Korean drama literature sector, the new generation that appeared after 2000 shows different trends compared to the works of the previous generation. They are called ``new writing`` of Korean drama and they share the characteristics that they are both playwright and producers. Park Sanghyeon, Choi Jina, Sung Giwoong, Yoon Hansol are writers that deserve attention. Though their method of work and themes are different, they exhibit the features of the new media generation in several aspects. Examples of them are the deconstruction of linear composition, features as programmer/fixers rather than traditional creators, self-reflection, dissolution of boundaries between fact and fiction, and their tendency to break away from genres.
