본 연구는 이주자들을 재현하는 한국영화에 어떤 경계적 요소들이 있으며, 이런 경계적 요소들에 의해 이주자, 조선족, 탈북자 등이 어떻게 재현되는 지를 살펴보고, 여러 윤리학적 입장을 고려하되 타자의 윤리학적 입장에 초점을 두고 성찰하고자 하였다. 또한 자본, 계급, 젠더, 민족(인종), 시간과 공간 등의 경계 요소에 의해 포섭되고 배제되는 경계 안과 바깥의 이주자와 디아스포라에 대한 영화적 재현이 가지는 의미와 그 특징을 살펴보고자 하였다. 1990년대 후반부터 최근에 이르기까지 배제되어온 탈경계적.탈민족적 주체로서의 이민자와 디아스포라 집단에 대한 한국영화의 진보적 감성과 문화문법이 영화적으로 어떻게 반영하고 있는지를 살펴봄으로써, 오리엔탈리즘과 동화.배제의 얕은 다문화주의를 넘어 소수자.타자.환대.혼종.책임의 윤리학적 가능성을 살펴보고자 하였다.

This study was planned to overcome abstractness about foreign immigrants and to clarify the aspects of discourse about the others that are internalized within us. Korean multiculturalism has limitation. So, this is a critique of Korea’s multicultural discourses from the perspective of korean film. Our korean film has been enriched by representation of immigrants since the late 1990s. Through that korean film, the process of making discourse about others within us, which characterizes the representation of foreign migrants, is deeply analyzed and interpreted in this study. The multiculturalism of Korea is evaluated as discriminatory and eliminatory. Also, the foreign immigrant as another “subject” within ourselves is discussed from the perspectives of ethics. After all, foreign immigrant has some marginal elements in Korea film to reproduce immigrant by these boundary elements. Boundaries have meaning among immigrants in the respect of capital, class, gender, ethnicity (race) and time and space. And the inside and outside of the boundaries has the inclusion and exclusion about immigrants and diaspora. So, this study examines whether immigrants are reproduced by several boundary elements. Moreover, to0 overcome the occurring problems in the critical analysis of multicultural discourses of Korea. I suggested the ethics of minority, hibridity, hospitality, responsibility about others.
