경제 수업 시수 확대가 현실적으로 매우 어렵다는 점을 감안할 때 국어, 수학, 영어 등의 과목에 경제 내용 요소를 융합하여 경제 개념과 원리를 자연스럽게 학생들에게 노출시키는 방안을 추진할 필요가 있다. 이 방안의 출발점으로서 이 연구는 경제와 수학의 융합을 효과적으로 달성하기 위해서 초등학교 수학 교과서와 익힘책을 분석한 후 경제 내용으로 대체할수 있는 부분을 쪽수와 문제 번호까지 거론하고 그에 대한 대체 안을 구체적으로 제작하여 제시하는 것을 주된 목적으로 한다. 이는 경제에 대한 전문 지식이 없는 수학 교과서 집필자들이 큰 부담 없이 대체 안을 수용할 수 있게 만드는 넛지 전략이다. 새 교육과정과 교과서를 개발하려는 이 시기에 적절하고 절실히 요구되는 연구 내용이다. 이야기 중심의 교과서를 강화하려는 수학교육의 철학이 지속되고 동시에 수학 교과서 집필 체계가 보다 유연해진다면 또는 교과서 집필자들이 열린 마음으로 서술 체계의 변형을 수용한다면 한층 효과적이고 다양한 방법으로 경제 내용 요소를 추가할 수 있을 것이다. 융합 전략을 통해 경제교육 효과를 얻기 위해서는 초등교사가 경제교육에 관심을 갖고 있어야 하며 경제 지식을 충분하게 지니고 있어야 한다.

Because it turns out to be impractical to allocate more class hours in favor of economics, integrating more economic contents into major subjects such as Korean language, mathematics, and English has a great deal of appeal to reinforce economic education for students. The purpose of this study is, as a starting point for the infusion approach, to provide specific cases with which are appropriate to replace current contents in elementary mathematics textbooks and activity books. A nudge strategy used by this study is expected to help writers of mathematics textbooks adapt and infuse economics content into mathematics, and thus raise learning effect. If a story-telling and flexible contexts are introduced in making mathematics textbooks, the infusion approach would be more effective. Major concerns for the success of the infusion method are the quality of the textbook and the preparedness of the elementary school teachers who offer that instruction.
