본 연구의 목적은 노인가구의 자산수준이 우울감에 미치는 영향을 사회적 관계망의 매개효과를 중심으로 분석하는 것이다. 이를 위해 2011년도 노인실태조사 데이터를 활용하여 노인가구의 자산수준이 우울감에 미치는 직접적인 영향을 살펴보았고, 두 변인 간의 관계에서 사회적 관계망의 매개효과를 검증하기 위해 위계적 회귀분석을 실시하였으며, 또 매개효과가 통계적으로 유의한지 살펴보기 위해 Sobel-test를 이용하였다. 분석결과, 노인가구의 자산수준은 우울감에 부적으로 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으며, 노인가구의 자산수준이 우울감에 영향을 미치는데 있어서 사회적 관계망의 부분 매개효과가 검증되었다. 이러한 결과를 토대로 본 연구는 자산수준에 의해 유발된 우울감을 완화시키기 위해서 자산수준과 사회적 관계망 특성을 반영한 저축 프로그램의 설계를 제안하고자 하며, 더불어 사회적관계망의 긍정적인 측면을 활용한 정책 및 프로그램 개발에 대한 지속적인 관심과 연구가 이루어져야 함을 강조하고 있다.

This study investigated asset effects on older adult``s depression and analyzed whether the effect is mediated by social relation network of older adults, using 2011 Survey Study on the Aged. This study used a hierarchical regression analysis to examine the mediating effect of the social relation network between assets and depression of older adults according to Baron & Kenny(1986). In addition, Sobel-test was used to look into the statistical significance of the mediating effect. Research findings of this study are as follows: First, assets were found to have negative impacts on the depression but positive impacts on social network. Second, we found not full but partial mediating effect of social network between assets and depression. The findings suggest that we need financial education and savings program targeting older adults to increase their asset level. In addition, the findings suggest that savings program should be tailored to enhance the quality of social relation network which also has impacts on depression. Further research on asset effects on quality of life of older adults is necessary to understand older adult``s successful aging.
