이 글은 빈모더니즘과 유대인의 연관관계를 이방학의 관점에서 해명하는 것을 목표로 한다. 세기말 빈은 인종의 도가니였으며, 이중에서 유대인들은 빈모더니즘에 중요한 영향을 미친다. 빈에 거주한 유대인들은 대부분 자유주의 시대에 개종을 통해 기독교 사회에 동화되었다. 하지만 반유대주의로 인해 이들은 정체성의 혼란을 느낀다. 이 연구에서 동화유대인들 이 반유대주의로 인해 타자화 되는 과정을 타자의 시각에서 재현함으로써 지금까지 타자에 대한 선입견을 해체한다.

This paper aims to examine the relationship between Viennese Modernism and Jewish influence in Vienna from a xenological point of view. Fin-de-siecle Vienna was a melting pot of ethnicities where Jews played a critical role in the Viennese modernism. The Jews residing in Vienna during the period of liberalism were largely converted to Christianity, and they assimilated into Christian society. However, anti-Semitism became ever more pronounced during this period, which accordingly led the Jews to experience an identity crisis. This study describes the process of otherization of assimilated Jews from the Jewish perspective, and thereby dissolves the prejudice against Jews.
