The development of a simple preparation method for high-performance polymer gel electrolyte is an important issue for many energy-related applications such as batteries, fuel cells and solar cells. Herein, we report a versatile method to produce polymer gel electrolytes via simple thermal polymerization of vinyl monomers using radical initiator. In addition, multi walled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) have been incorporated into 3-dimensional networks of polymer gel electrolyte as fillers. Poly (ethylene glycol dimethacrylate) based nanocomposite polymer gel electrolyte has been successfully obtained with enhanced stability and superior mechanical property. Therefore, this newly developed nanocomposite polymer gel electrolytes can be considered as good candidates for the next generation of energy related devices.
