본 연구는 초등학교 6학년 학생들의 인터넷 읽기 과정을 심층적으로 분석하여 다양한 능력을 가진 학습자들이 인터넷 텍스트 읽기 과정에서 보이는 특징을 살펴보고자 하였다. 먼저 학습자 측면에서 학생들의 인터넷 읽기 유형은 세 가지로 구분되었다. 1유형 학생들은 다양한 전략 활용을 통해 유의미한 인지적인 판단들을 토대로 효율적인 인터넷 읽기를 수행하였고, 2유형 학생들은 전략 활용은 미숙하였으나 검색어입력 능력이 높아 다양한 웹사이트에서 다양한 정보를 습득하는 모습을 보였다. 마지막 3유형 학생들은 인터넷 구조에 대한 이해 부족 및 검색어 입력의 어려움으로 인터넷 읽기에서 전반적인 문제점을 보였다. 두 번째로 인터넷 텍스트 측면에서는 교사가 주제를 제시한 1차시에 비해 학생의 개인별 관심과 사전지식을 반영한 2차시 활동에서의 읽기에서 적절성과 정확성이 높은 사이트를 활용한 인터넷 텍스트 읽기 활동을 하였고, 비교적 복잡한 구조를 가진 사이트에 들어가 오랜 시간 읽기 활동을 하였음을 알 수 있었다. 그러나 인쇄 매체 읽기 능력이 높은 학생일지라도 대부분의 초등학교 학생들은 인터넷 텍스트 읽기가 가지는 부가적인 복잡성 부분을 아직 제대로 습득하지 못하였음을 알 수 있었다. 따라서 인터넷 매체 기본 교육 및 협력 학습의 도입, 배경 지식을 활성화 시킬 수 있는 교육 방법 활용, 학년을 고려한 교수o학습의 설계 등이 필요하며 전통적인 읽기에서 요구하는 능력에 대한 교육도 여전히 중요하게 다루어질 필요가 있다.

The purpose of this research is to analyze the Internet text reading strategies used by sixth-grade readers who have diverse abilities and characteristics. For this purpose, this research chose to proceed a case study through a qualitative method with 16 sixth-grade students. The results of this research are as follows: Firstly, in respect of the student, three types of students showed different aspect in the Internet text reading. Type 1 students used various strategies that helped them to read effectively. Type 2 students could not use strategies well but they had high abilities to make a keyword so they could find diverse information through several web sites. Type 3 students had some difficulties in Internet text reading due to the lack of understanding on Internet text structure and making a keyword. Secondly, in respect of the Internet text, the students showed similar aspect of reading but they showed more active reading in the second session. They explored more web sites that have complicated structures with higher adequacy and accuracy when they searched individualized topic. In conclusion, even though the students who have high ability in print text reading, they did not have additional complicated strategies for the Internet text reading yet. Therefore, fundamental education for understanding the Internet media in schools is needed. Also, it is important not to disregard the traditional reading.
