패션은 시대를 반영하며 나아가 시대를 이끄는 원동력이 되어 그 시대의 정신적, 육체적 안정감을 위한 치유의 역할을 하기도 한다. 디자이너 패션 산업의 성공적 요소 중 하나는 감성과 심리욕구의 충족이며, 이미 20세기 초부터 세계유명디자이너들이 시도한 패션과 심리의학의 절충으로 현대 패션은 치유예술로서 자리매김하였다. 본 연구는 세계유명디자이너의 패션 미학과 관련한 사고와 그들의 컬렉션을 치유(Healing)의 관점에서 접근해 봄으로써 패션이 얼마나 포괄적으로 시대를 반영하며, 치유와의 연결고리를 갖고 있는지를 밝히는데 목적이 있다. 이러한 일련의 시도는 여성의 패션을 단순한 치장의 측면을 넘어, 시대와 접목된 실증적 학문에 바탕을 둔 치유문화의 절충적 연계 속에서 고찰하는 새로운 관점의 연구주제로서 위치시킨다는 의의를 지닌다. 연구방법으로는 문헌연구와 실증연구를 병행하였으며 20세기를 아우르는 유명패션디자이너 6인을 연구의 범위로 설정하였다. 연구의 결과로서 가브리엘 샤넬(Gabrielle Chanel), 크리스찬 디올(Christian Dior), 조르지오 아르마니(Giorgio Armani), 살바토레 페라가모(Salvatore Ferragamo), 캘빈 클라인(Calvin klein), 랄프 로렌(Ralph lauren)의 삶과 컬렉션의 미적 특성을 연구하여, 샤넬의 성, 계층, 연령의 평준화 지향, 크리스찬 디올의 여성성 회복, 조르지오 아르마니의 양성의 조화, 살바토레 페라가모의 여성 발의 해방, 캘빈 클라인의 도덕적 규범에 근거한 억압문화의 탈피, 랄프 로렌의 귀족적 품격의 심리적 만족감 제시 등의 치유 양상을 도출해냈다. 이를 통해 본 연구는 유명패션디자이너의 브랜드에 내재된 미적 특성이 절충과 융합을 통한 인간 삶의 새로운 문화 양상을 드러내고 있는 현상, 그리고 디자이너 패션이 단순히 치장의 범주를 넘어 동서의학과 패션문화를 연결하는 폭넓은 소통의 문화로서 역할하여 심리적 치유를 진행하고 있는 현상을 밝혔다.
Fashion reflects the times and heals the times whether we recognize. It is not too much to say that the women’s beauty industry is a solid financial base of the designer fashion industry, and since the early 20th century, the world’s famous designers have settled themselves with the phase of development through compromise between fashion and beauty. This thesis intends to suggest how much fashion culture of women heals the period wholly through the form of new methodology by approaching fashion aesthetics of international famous designers from an angle of healing. Fashion reflects periodical stream by cognizing war, social changes and cultural phenomena rapidly. International famous designers have created fashion with institution and insight which pass the period and plays healing roles by displaying excellent timeliness. As a method of carrying out the purpose of the study, literary research and empirical research were conducted in parallel. Literary research referred to preceding research papers and books on fashion and beauty and used fashion and beauty magazines, serial publications on beauty and the Internet resources as references. As a result of an approach to women’s beauty culture from the perspective of healing, while a new cultural aspect of human life through compromise and convergence has appeared, it was found that the beauty industry is settling itself as a culture of broad convergence that links the communications between medicine and fashion of the east and the west beyond the category of simple aesthetic decoration, and that fashion designers’ aesthetic philosophy with the fame as the world’s famous brand included a power of healing pains and evils of the times through fashion.
