무용가가 즉흥적으로 춤을 추는 것은 무용가 자신에 대한 표현이며, 자기 지식이자 자기 세계에 대한 앎이다. 그럼에도 사전적 의미에서는 행위가 일어나는 시간적 즉흥성이 강조 되어 즉흥 움직임의 예술적 가치가 간과되고 있다. 이에 본 연구의 목적은 콜링우드 예술 표현론을 근거로 즉흥무용에서 상상적 표현이 갖는 의미와 가치를 알아보는데 있다. 콜링우드의 표현은 자기-표현적 표현을 기반으로 예술가가 자신의 감정을 의식하는 내적 과정을 전제로 한다. 그 감정은 예술가의 상상 속에 존재하며, 상상에 의해 현재화 되어 표현된다. 그러므로 콜링우드의 예술이란 예술가의 상상적 표현이다. 모든 무용이 무용가 자신의 감정을 표현하는 것은 아니다. 하지만 즉흥 무용은 자기로부터 상상과 표현이 발현되므로 자신의 감정을 표현하는 상상적 표현이라고 할 수 있다. 상상적 표현은 무용가가 자유롭게 내면을 탐험하고 재구성하여 자기만의 고유한 움직임을 발견하도록 무용가를 이끈다. 즉흥무용에서 상상적 표현은 콜링우드의 표현론과 능동성, 자율성, 주관성, 자기 방향성의 공통점을 가지고 무용가의 자기 인식을 확장 시킨다. 이를 바탕으로, 본 연구의 결론은 다음 세 가지로 요약 된다. 첫째, 즉흥무용은 상상을 매개로 표현되어야 한다. 둘째, 무용가들은 감각자극을 통해 감정적 탐험과 상상적 경험을 체험해야 하고 스스로를 성숙 시켜야 한다. 셋째, 무용가는 상상된 감정을 재구성 하여 고유한 움직임을 창조한다.

Although the improvision dance of a dancer is a self-expression for the dancer oneself and self-understanding for the dancer`s own knowledge and world, only the temporal spontaneity of deed is emphasized in the dictionary definition, and its artistic significance is ignored. Accordingly, the purpose of this study is to investigate the meaning of imaginative expression in improvisation dance based on the expression theory of art by Collingwood. The expression of Collingwood is based on the self-representative expression and the premise that an artist goes through an internal process for one`s own emotion. The emotion exists in the imagination of the artist, and the imagination makes it present for expression. Thus, the art of Collingwood is an artistic expression of a artist. Not all dances can express an emotion of the dancer, but the improvision dance can be called a imaginary expression to reveal a dancer`s own imagination and expression and to express the dancer`s own emotion. The imaginary expression leads a dancer to freely explore deep into oneself and find out one`s own movement after restructure. The imaginative expression of improvision dance shares expressionism, activeness, autonomy, subjectivity, and self-directivity with Collingwood, and expands the self=awareness of dancer. Based on these facts, the result of this study can be summarized into three. First, improvision dance should be expressed by the media of imagination. Second, dancers should experience emotional explore and imaginative experience by sensual stimulation , and develop themselves by self-awareness and self-reflection from internalization of sensation by this process in improvisation. Third, dancer should create unique movement by reconstructing imagined emotion in improvisation dance.
