이 연구는 모국(homeland)을 떠난 디아스포라가 거주국(host country)에서 살아가면서경험하게 되는 문화접변 양상과 디아스포라가 거주국 지역사회의 성장에 어떻게 기여하는지를 살펴보는데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 이 연구는 일본 오사카 이쿠노쿠(生野區)에 거주하고있는 재일코리안 디아스포라들을 대상으로, 그들이 경험하고 있는 문화접변 현상과 그과정에서 지역사회와 어떻게 상호 공생하고 발전하는가를 살펴보았다. 일본 오사카 이쿠노쿠에 거주하고 있는 재일코리안 디아스포라는 다인종, 다문화시대에 진입하고 있는 한국사회에 많은 시사점을 제공한다. 무엇보다 오늘날 디아스포라는단순히 지역사회의 한 구성원으로만 그치는 것이 아니라 지역사회의 성장과 발전에필요한 새로운 에너지를 창조하는 적극적인 주체가 될 수 있다는 것이다. 또한 공존,공생의 사회가 되기 위해서는 정부 및 지자체를 비롯하여 지역사회를 구성하는 주체들의공동 노력이 필요하다. 그런 점에서 다인종, 다문화시대에 어느 일방에 의한 문화접변은불필요한 갈등을 야기하여 사회적 혼란 및 비용을 증가시킨다는 점에서 이를 경계해야할 것이다. 다인종, 다문화시대에 진입한 한국사회는 사회 곳곳에 산재하여 존재하는 다양한 이문화의 원형들을 발굴하고, 이주민문화와 주류문화 간의 교류를 통해 문화적 차이를 인정하고 체험하는 프로그램을 추진해야 한다. 여기에서 중요한 점은 이러한 사업들이 하나의 관광 상품으로만 여겨 진행되는 것이 아니라 사회의 모든 구성원들이 함께 참여하고 공유하는 자세가 필요하다. 아울러 다인종, 다문화시대에 디아스포라가 단지 낯선 이방인이 아니라 지역사회의 동반성장을 위해 필수불가결한 존재임을 바로 인식해야 할 것이다.
The focus of this paper is to analyze the aspects of acculturation of thediaspora in their host country after leaving their homeland and how theycontribute to the growth of communities in their host country. Therefore,this research, which is specifically limited to the Korean diaspora living inIkuno-ku, Osaka, Japan will examine their acculturation and how they coexistand develop in that process. The Osaka-Ikunoku Miyuki-dori Koreatown usedto be a densely populated ethnic community where only Koreans in Japan(old-comers) lived together, but it now becomes a multicultural communitywhere old-comers, new-comers, and Japanese live together. In addition, oneof positive points is that Japan runs various programs for symbiosis so thatmigrants including Koreans in Japan can live proudly as members of theircommunity. However, despite these multicultural symbiosis projects, it shouldbe noted that the politics of discrimination and exclusion against Koreansin Japan is still prevailing in Japanese society. The Korean diaspora in Japan inhabiting Osaka Ikuno-ku give a lot ofimplications to us who are living in the multiracial and multicultural era. Most of all, today’s diaspora is not simply a member of the community buta positive actor who creates new energy that is necessary for the growthand development of the community. Besides, to realize a coexistence andsymbiosis society, members of the community as well as governments andlocal governments should collect their common efforts. In this regard, the unilateral acculturation should be avoided in the multiracial and multicultural era because it causes unnecessary conflicts, thereby exacerbating social chaos and costs. To this end, it should explore prototypes of varied different cultures scattered in communities and develop programs through which people canacknowledge and experience cultural differences via exchange betweenmigrant cultures and the mainstream culture. The important thing is that weshould not regard those projects just as one tourist product. However,community members should be equipped with an attitude toward participationand sharing. we should be aware of the fact that in the multiracial andmulticultural era, the diaspora is not only for the outsiders but also for theindispensable existence for the mutual growth of the community.
