현재 학교는 학교 부적응으로 학업을 중단하는 학생들이 늘고 있다. 학교는 교육을 통하여 학생이 정상적인 학교생활을 할 수 있도록 도와줄의무가 있다. 본고에서는 학교 부적응 학생들의 학교 적응을 돕고, 학업 중단 및 개인적·사회적 문제가 발생되기 이전의 예방교육으로써 학교 독서교육을 제안하였으며, 특성화고등학교 학교 부적응 학생들을 대상으로 실천한 독서사례를 소개하였다. 학교 부적응 학생을 위한 독서교육은 부적응 학생의 특성을 고려하여연간 독서교육의 주제를 ‘소통과 변화’로 선정하였으며, 독서와 독서활동을통해 감동을 경험함으로써 강한 변화의 동기와 실천으로 이어질 수 있도록도움을 주었다. 구체적으로 학생의 상황을 토대로 한 도서 선정과 독서활동을 통해 동기화를 경험할 수 있도록 돕고, 독서 후 활동으로 자기성찰 글쓰기및 발표, 독서토론, ‘독서토론연극’ 등의 활동을 실시하였다. 그 결과, 학교 부적응 학생은 독서교육을 통해 희망과 비전을 찾을 수있었으며, 학교가 즐거운 공동체라는 것을 깨닫고, 학교생활에 적응하는모습을 관찰할 수 있었다. 또한, 자신의 감동을 또 다른 학생들에게 전함으로써 감동을 확산하는 모습도 살펴볼 수 이었다.

Currently there is increasing number of students that are maladjusted to school. Schools are obliged to help students with normal school life in terms of education. This paper proposes school reading education as preventive education lowering school dropout and for improving individual and societal problems by helping maladjusted students, and also introduces a case study of reading education practiced with maladjusted students in a specialized vocational high school. The reading education program for maladjusted students took ‘communication and changes’ as its annual subject matter in consideration of the characteristics of the maladjusted students, and helped them experience a strong positive impact via reading and reading activities leading to strong motivation for change and practice. The program specifically helped the students develop motivation through the book selection based on their circumstances and reading activities, and carried out activities including self-reflection, writing and presentation, discussion about books, and ‘Forum Theatre after the reading process’ etc. as post-reading activities. As a result, it was observed that the maladjusted students could find hope and dreams via the reading education, realized that their school was a pleasant community, and became well adjusted to school life. Also, it was witnessed that they spread their emotional experiences to other students by telling them the program’s merits.
