본 연구는 칼빈의 사회복지적 관점에서 조명한 목회사역 연구를 통해서 당시의 사회복지가 사회적 약자들의 삶속에 어떠한 영향을 주었는지를 이해하고, 이를 바탕으로 기독교사회복지가 주는 의미를 제시하고자 하였다. 첫째, 기독교사회 복지는 예수의 가르침을 따라 섬김(diakonia)의 정신 속에 교회의 주체가 되어야 한다. 둘째, 개교회주의 인식 변화이다. 개인주의는 교회의 양적성장 또는 성장 우선주의 등으로 나타날 수 있으며, 이로 인한 사회적 약자를 섬기는 일에 소홀할 수밖에 없다. 그러므로 교회들이 가지고 있는 개교회주의는 끊임없이 개혁되어야 하며 ``교회로 하여금 교회되게 하라``(Let Church Be Church)는 소리에 응답해야 한다. 셋째, 교회의 제도적 변화가 일어나야 한다. 칼빈은 집사직무의 중요한 기능을 언급하면서 구호품을 나누어 주는 자와 사회적 약자를 돌보는 조직으로 나누어 활동하게 하였다. 근본적으로 기독교사회복지를 온전히 이해하기 위해서는 먼저 선행되어야 할 것이 기독교사회복지에 대한 신학적 정립과 교회의 본질적 사명이 무엇인지 이해해야 한다. 즉 분명한 신학적 근거와 신실한 신앙에 근거해 기독교사회복지를 실천해 나가야 한다. 예수의 하나님 나라 선포는 개인의 영혼 구원만이 아닌 통전적(統全的) 구원을 의미하는 것으로 병자들을 치유하시며 사회적 약자들을 위하시며 그들과 함께 하셨다. 오늘날 교회와 그리스도인들이 어떻게 행하여야 할 것인지를 교훈하고 있다.
The purpose of this study is to understand the influence of the social welfare system on the socially vulnerable population and the significance of Christian social welfare by exploring the pastoral ministry from the perspective of Calvin`s social welfare. Firstly, the Christian social welfare must play a central role in churches according to Jesus` preaching on service (diakonia). Secondly, there is a change in the perception of church individualism. Individualism can be expressed in the form of the church`s quantitative growth and its drive for growth. In consequence, they tend to neglect providing a service to socially vulnerable people. That is why a church`s individualism must be constantly reformed and churches must respond to the voice that says "Let Church Be Church". Thirdly, churches must bring changes to their systems. Calvin pointed out the importance of the role of a deacon and divides those who provide socially vulnerable people with aid from those who take care of them. It is necessary to establish the theological foundation for the Christian social welfare and promote awareness of a church`s mission in order to understand it properly. In other words, the Christian social welfare must be implemented based on a clear theological basis and sincere faith. The declaration of God`s kingdom by Jesus means not only individual salvation but also healing those who are sick and serving those who are vulnerable. It holds important lessons for Christians today.
