본 연구는 우리 기업의 국제경쟁력 제고에 있어서 물류가 차지하는 전략적 비중이 높아짐에 따라, 물류 개선을 통한 결쟁력 강화를 목적으로 하고 있다. 특히 개별 기업의 물류 개선만으로는 한계가 있기 때문에 본 연구에서는 혁신적 개선을 꾀할 수 있도록 납품사, 메이커,유통기관 등 공급 사슬내에 관련을 맺고 있는 당사자들간의 통합적 관리를 통한 공급사슬관리에 중점을 두고 있다.따라서 공급사슬관리의 개념을 정립하고, 이의 적용을 통해 고객의 요구조건을 만족시키는 서비스를 제공하면서, 물류비용을 획기적으로 절감시킬 수 있는 방안을 모색하였다. 또한 사례 조사 및 현황 조사에 근거하여 한국에서의 공급사슬관리의 추진시 장애요인 및 과제에 관해 논의하였다.

Logistics is vital to achieving flrms` competitive advantage. This study fouses on how flrms can improve their global competitiveness by reinforcing logistical systems. However, both scholars and practitioners realized that radical improvement in logistics requires not only individual flrms` efforts but the integrative efforts of various parties such as suppliers, manufacturers, and service providers. This study attempts to conceptualize the concept of supply chain management, draws some implications from previous studies and fleld sutveys. and suggests how to implement supply chain management in Korea effectively and efflciently.
