상·벌점제는 체벌의 대안으로 학교에 도입되었다. 기존의 처벌위주 생활지도방법에서 학생의 자율성과 능동성을 존중하는 적극적인 생활지도방법이 될 수 있을 것이라 기대하였다. 학생이 자신의 벌점을 상점 또는 그린(회복)점수로 상쇄하는 것을 허용하여 자기관리를 할수 있는 기회를 보장하였기 때문이다. 하지만 선행연구 결과, 학생들은 상·벌점제가 자율성을 보장하지 못하며, 생활지도 효과가 낮다고 응답하였다. 상·벌점제의 적용 대상이 되는 학생들이 제도에 대해 부정적인 태도를 가지고 있다면 그 이유와 원인을 다양한 각도와 측면에서 규명해보아야 할 것이다. 본 연구에서는 학생의 자기관리 측면에서 도입된 “상점받기”에 주목하였다. “상점받기”는 학생이 받은 벌점을 상점으로 상쇄할 수 있는 제도이다. 상점받기를 지속적으로 하는 학생의 상점받기 경험을 탐색하여 학생의 입장에서 상·벌점제의 교육적 역할을 검토해 보았다. 본 연구의 결과 학생들은 상점받기를 “벌점 관리”로 인식하여 행동하고 있으며, “벌점 과다”의 상태가 되어 상점받기를 시작하는 것으로 나타났다. “푸른교실이 기록되는 것이 두려움”은 학생들이 벌점 관리를 하는 이유이다. “상·벌점으로 위협하는 교사”, “벌점을 감시하는 부모”, “미래를 준비하는 나”라는 인식은 학생들이 상점을 받기 위해 “교사에게 의존”하고 “친구와 상점받기 경쟁”하며, “상점을 도구적으로 활용”하는 행동에 영향을 준다. 이러한 행동이 강하게 부각될수록 학생들은 “상점받기에 대한 회의”가 심해졌다. 본 연구는 학생들이 상점받기를 지속하면서 무엇을 경험하는가와 함께 상점받기가 본래 취지에 맞는 교육적 역할을 하지 못하는 원인을 학생의 경험으로부터 제시하였다는 점에서 의의가 있다.

The Purpose of this study is to understand the student who repeated “impose demerit-take merit” experience of “take merit points” process. For this purpose, qualitative research such as depth interviews with students was the student who repeated “impose demerit-take merit”. The collected data were analyzed by three questions; “What is the main motivation of take merit ponits?”, “What did students feel through take merit?”, “What is the educational role of take merit?”. As result, 114 concepts, 30 sub-categories, and 10 categories were showed. The core category was “fear of record-press on advantage of merit”. As result of process analysis on the student experience of take merit points, “identifying stage”, “reliancing stage”, “strategic action stage”, “skepticism stage”were drwan. Based on these results, this study implies the need for take merit points list and impose demerit points list to the same. And Pooren-curriculum should be changed dermit overpuls students think the need to attend to the school rules.
