This thesis analyzes ≪Suite for piano, Op. 13≫ of Robert Muczynski (1929∼2010) who is American composer. The music which is a subject of analysis was composed in 1960 when several music trends were existing. In the period, the World War II was finished and confused atmosphere was shown. At that time, a composer, Muczynski, adopted neo-classism composition of traditional course in this music, but showed an effort to accept modern musical method actively. Muczynski didn`t adopt twelve tone technique and pursued composition music basically. As one motif, he made unique phrase with rhythm variation by reducing or expanding rhythm in this music. Also, completely different sound was made by changing range of same motif. Also, strong sense of tension was formed by only rhythm through the accent for melody pattern or rhythm pattern they decided regardless of them, by getting of the concept of traditional measure. In the sense of harmony, Muczynski suggested center-note in every musical phrase, but dissonance and chromatic scale were often used. So, tonality was sometimes spoiled. He was also a pianist and showed possibilities of piano with the most broad range among the instruments, by using very wide range.
