본 연구에서는 영유아 애착유형을 안정애착과 불안정 애착으로 분류하여 정서지능과 사회지능의 관련성을 조사하고, 애착유형과 사회지능 간의 정서지능의 매개역할을 분석하였다. 연구결과 첫째, 안정애착을 보일수록 정서지능이 높았고, 이는 사회지능의 사회지식, 사회표현성, 사회유연성이 높아지는 결과로 이어진 반면, 불안정애착을 보일수록 전서지능이 낮았도, 이는 사회지능의 사회지식, 사회표현성, 사회유연성이 낮아지는 결과로 이어졌다. 이러한 결과는 정서지능이 안정애착과 사회지능, 불안정애착과 사회지능 사이에서 완전매개효과를 가지는 것을 보여준다. 둘째, 정서지능은 사회지능과 직접적인 효과가 유의미하게 나타나 정서지능이 높을수록 사회지능의 사회지식, 사회표현성, 사회유연성이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과들은 애착유형, 정서지능과 사회지능 간의 인과관계를 밝히고, 애착유형과 사회지능 간의 전서지능 매개효과를 경험적으로 입증하였다.

The purpose of this study was examined the relationship between attachment, emotional intelligence, and social intelligence, and the mediating role of emotional intelligence between them. Two hundred and eighteen young children of 12-38 months in child care centers were participated in this study. Results showed that the young children of secure attachment were more likely to show better the emotional intelligence, which in turn promoted social intelligence. Whereas the young children of insecure attachment were more likely to less the emotional and social intelligence. Also the links between attachment and social intelligence were fully mediated by emotional intelligence. These findings suggest that secure attachment relationship to parents foster social intelligence by promoting high levels of emotional intelligence.
