종교개혁은 성경의 해석에서 시작되었다. 이런 점에서 칼빈의 성경해석 원리를 살피는 것은 큰 의미가 있다. 칼빈에 있어서 가장 중요한 해석원리로서 성경을 성경으로 해석하는 원리와 성령님의 조명에 의한 원리가 있다. 종교개혁자들은 오직 성경만으로를 강조하면서 성경이 사제니 교황이나 교회에 의해서 독점적으로 해석되지 아니하고 오직 성경은 성경으로 해석되어야 한다고 주장하였다. 동시에 성령님은 성경을 해석하는 사람에게 중요한 영향을 준다는 것이다. 칼빈은 죄인인 해석자가 성경을 해석하기 위하여 성령님의 조명이 반드시 있어야 성경을 바르게 해석한다고 주장했다. 이런 해석을 통하여 칼빈은 교회의 공적인 유익을 위하여 최선을 다한 해석자였다. 본 논문은 칼빈이 성경에 근거하여 세운 그의 해석월리를 조명 하려고 한다.

The Reformation dated from the interpretation of the Scriptures. From this perspective, it is very meaningful to investigate the principles of the Scriptures of John Calvin. There are two important principles of Calvin`s interpretation. Firstly, it is Sripture is its own expositor. Secondly, it is the illumination of the Holy Spirit. Refomers insisted on Scripture only, and not the interpretation of the Scriptures by only the priet, the pope, and the Roman Catholic Church, but rather by the principle. According to Calvin also the Holy Spirit influences on an interpreter of Scripture. Calvin argues that an interpreter as a sinner needs to be illuminated by the Holy Spirit in order to interpret the Scriptures. With this interpretation Calvin did his best as an interpreter for the benefit of the public churches. This thesis investigates his principles of the interpretation of Calvin based on the Scrptures.
