본 논고는 한국신종교에서의 삼성제군의 역할에 대한 고찰을 통하여 오늘날 삼성제군이 종교적, 도덕적으로 현재 우리의 삶에 어떻게 영향을 미쳐 왔으며, 앞으로 우리의 삶에 어떠한 방안을 제시할 수 있는지 알아보는 데 목적이 있다. 인간의 운명은 태어날 때부터 하늘에 의해 결정되어진 것인가? 아니면 타고난 운명을 자신의 후천적인 노력 즉, 올바른 가치관에 의한 정당한 행동과 성실한 생활에 의해 바꿀수 있는가? 이는 누구나 한 번쯤은 생각해 보았음직한 문제이다. 오늘날 우리는 전통과 현대 사이의 시대적 갈등에 대한 격차를 극복하고 현재 우리의 삶에 적합한 도덕적 가치체계를 정립해야 한다. 이를 위해서는 현대인의 도덕의식을 정확히 진단하여 현재와 미래에 꼭 필요한 가치관의 방향을 모색하여야 한다. 또한 이러한 도덕적 가치체계 정립을 위한 객관적이고 보편타당한 이론과 방법론 역시 필수적이다. 단순히 과거의 전통적 사상을 무시한 채 단편적인 방법론에 근거한 근시안적인 대안이 아니라 한국인의 윤리적 정체성을 본질적으로 규명하는 작업이 필요하다. 과거와 단절된 현재와 미래는 없기 때문에 현재의 과제를 해결하기 위해서는 과거의 전통 윤리의식에 대한 연구가 반드시 병행되어야 한다.

This research is to study about the role of “Sam Sung Je Kun” (三聖帝君) in the area of Korean new religion and to find out how “Sam Sung Je Kun” (三聖帝君) has affected us to live in religious and moral ways and what kind of plans “Sam Sung Je Kun” (三聖 帝君) can provide us with to have a better life in the future. Is people`s fate already designated by God when they`re born? Or is it possible for us to change our fate by making an effort on doing a right thing based on a right concept of moral value? These are quite common questions for us. These days, we need to overcome the gab between our tradition and the modern life, and to establish a new moral value system which would fit for us, now. Assessing and evaluating our awareness of morality would come before making a decision on choosing a proper conception of value which is necessary now and in the future. Objective and generally understandable theories and methods are also required for it. We need to verify the identity of Korean morality rather than to focus on nearsighted plans along with fragmental methods. Since the present and the future must be related to the past somehow, we need to conduct studying about both our traditional morality in the past and issues occurred in the present, simultaneously. Most people agree with that doing good will bring us good luck. According to “Ju yeok” (周易), there is a saying, “If a family keeps doing good, there would be a happy event for them. On the other hand, if a family keeps doing bad, there would be a disaster in their family. Also, a book named “Sun Seo” (善書) shows that do good quickly, give up bad quickly. In the same context, “Sam Sung Je Kun” (三聖帝君) has taught us how we practice good in life and guided us to the right direction of improving morality. Through this study, I could analyze historical persons in “Sam Sung Je Kun” (三聖帝君), and could find out how the religion has developed and has affected to the public. I believe that this study could help us to rebuild up our moral value system and to come up with a proper way to combine our traditional conception and a modern way of thoughts.
