본 연구는 안정애착을 형성하는 어머니의 역할을 보다 구체화시켜 세분화하고 어머니의 특정역할행동과 아동의 양육패턴과의 연관을 찾아보기 위한 것으로 어머니의 역할을 구조(structuring), 도전(challenging), 개입(engaging), 그리고 양육(nurturing)으로 세분화하여 각 영역의 어머니 역할행동이 자녀의 애착행동과 연관성을 보이는지 알아보았다. 이를 위해, 본 연구에서는 MIMRS(Marschak Interaction Method Rating Scale)를 이용하여 어머니의 영역별 역할수행능력을 평가하고 이것이 자녀의 애착행동과 어떠한 관련성을 보이는지 조사함으로써 자녀의 애착행동을 자극하는 부모의 역할은 무엇이고 어떠한 영역의 부모역할수행능력과 자녀의 안정된 또는 불안정 애착행동이 연관성을 보이는지 알아보았다. 본 연구를 위해 7-8세 아동과 그 어머니 8쌍을 대상으로 어머니 역할수행능력검사인 MIMRS을 실시하고 자녀의 애착행동을 평가하였으며 자료분석을 통해 어머니의 역할수행특성과 자녀의 애착유형 간의 연관을 알아보고자 하였다. 분석결과 도전이나 개입영역에서 어머니가 자녀를 잘 주도하지 못하는 경우, 아이가 주도권을 잡고 성인의 리드를 거부하는 조정거부형 애착행동을 보이는 것으로 나타났다. 또한, 개입과 양육 영역의 수행능력이 떨어지는 어머니의 자녀가 관계에 무관심하고 관계 시도행동을 무시하는 회피형 애착행동을 보였다. 조정거부행동을 보이는 아이들의 어머니는 구조영역의 역할행동 수치가 다른 영역에 비해 눈에 띄게 높은 것을 알 수 있었다. 반면 안정행동을 보이는 자녀를 둔 어머니들은 공통적으로 양육능력이 상대적으로 높은 것으로 나타났다.

The purpose of this study investigated the relationships between mothers` parenting behavior and attachment patterns of their children. In this study, MIMRS (Marschak Interaction Method Rating Scale) was used to know mothers` parenting behavior. Also, attachment classification developed by Kye OK Hong was use to know attachment patterns of their children. The subjects of this study were eight mother-child dyads. They were observed and videotaped with doing MIM. After that, recorded tapes were analyzed structuring, challenging, engaging, and nurturing dimensions of MIM for mothers` parenting behavior and secure, avoidant, ambivalent, and controlling attachment behaviors of children. The major findings were as follows: 1. When mothers couldn`t take their role in challenging and engaging dimensions, children took in charge and resisted mothers` control. 2. When mothers were inability in dimensions of engaging and nurturing, their children were apathy and avoidant. 3. There were significant correlations between mothers` high score in structuring and controlling behaviors of their children. 4. There were secure attached children with good caring mothers.
