본 논문은 기술우위에 있는 기업과 기술열위에 있는 기업이 매 기간 시장진입 여부, 품질, 가격을 결정하는 두 기간 모형을 사용하여 기술진보 하에서 두 기업들의 진입시점과 품질선택을 분석하는 논문이다. 두 기업이 선택할 수 있는품질의 상한선은 동일하며 이 상한선은 둘 째기에 증가한다. 매기에 있어서 어느 기업도 시장에 진입하지 않은 상황에서는 기술 선도기업인 한 기업이 기술 후발기업인 다른 기업보다 먼저 진입여부와 품질수준을 결정할 수 있다. 이러한 상황에서 본 논문이 도출한 결과는 다음과 같다: 기술진보의 속도가 매우 빠르면 두 기업 모두 시장진입을 둘째 기로 미룬다; 기술진보의 속도가 적당히 빠르면 기술 선도기업은 시장진입을 둘째 기로미루고 기술 후발기업은 첫 기에 시장에 진입한다; 기술진보의 속도가 적당히 느리면 기술 선도기업은 첫기에 시장에 진입하고 기술 후발기업은 둘째기로 시장진입을 미룬다; 기술진보의 속도가 매우 느리면 두 기업 모두 첫기에 시장에 진입한다.

This paper investigates entry timing and quality choice under technological progress (TP) in a two period game, where two firms make decisions on entry, quality and price in each period. Both firms can choose quality in the same range, where range increases in the second period. One firm is a technological leader that makes entry and quality decisions before the other firm in each period. We find that when TP is very rapid, both firms postpone entry until period 2; When TP is mildly rapid, the technological leader postpones entry while the follower enters the market in period 1 to hold a short-term monopoly; When TP is slow, the technological leader enters the market in period 1 while the follower waits; And when TP is very slow, both firms enter the market in period 1.
