This study discusses about Korean language proficiency of various married female immigrants in Korea. 1800 subjects participated for this study. Testing materials developed based on materials which used at multicultrual family supporting centers for teaching and testing Korean. Several findings are as follows. In order to get a certain level of lexis, artificial educational environment needed while low level of lexis can be acquired through daily conversation. Second, subject got a lower error rates at the category of Korean particles than inflectional morphemes. Inflectional morphemes seems to be most difficult grammatical category even residental period get increased. Third, subjects whose coming from Japan and Mongol showed stable proficiency level than subject whose coming from China, Vietnam, Philippine. Mongolian subject who live in Korea over 10 years got the lowest error rate. Both Philippine and ‘기타`` showed a higher error rate (over 40%). All of the participants had experiences learning Korean language 3 times a week for 2 years at multicultural family supporting center but their Korean language proficiency level were different. Based on these result, differentiated curriculum and instruction service is needed depending on different cultural background immigrants. (SookMyung Women`s University)
