The purpose of this study is to measure color and pearlescent effects affected by particle size of pearlescent pigment in eyeshadow. Color effects of upper eyelid were measured for 60 women residing in Seoul metropolitan area with spectrometer Minolta CM-512m3. 6 eyeshadows including 3 orange and 3 blue ones were used and the measurement was based on CIE colorimetric system. Consequently, the concentration of satin and pearl was proportional to pearlescent effects whereas the concentration of glitter was in reverse proportion to pearlescent effects. This study was aimed at enhancing make-up artist`s work efficiency and helping the development of cosmetics and marketing by enabling prediction of color effects affected by particle size of pigment.
