오늘날 많은 예술가들이 의상을 통해 다양한 의미체계를 구축하여 그들의 메시지를 전달하고 있으며, 이러한 의상들은 다분히 담론 적이고 해석적이다. 또한 피발화자(감상자)는 기호의 활동을 통해 발화자(디자이너)가 전달하고자 하는 어떤 코드를 해석하거나, 대상의 ``내부``에 있는 ``의미``에 도달하기 위해 ``부재``를 메우도록 요구되어지고 있다. 본 논문은 먼저 표현면과 내용면을 분리하고 각각의 분리된 면에서 발현되지 않은 단위를 추출하고 이를 체계화시키기 위해 기호사각형을 이용하였다. 그 다음 대립을 이루는 이항대립쌍의 기술과 기표와 기의의 의미작용을 통해 분석 가능한 의미의 은유된 표현이나 부재의 채워넣기를 통한 작가의 자의적인 해석을 도출해 내는데 본 논문의 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 대표적 포스트모더니즘 작품인 <애리조나>를 분석하였으며, 비교분석을 위한 작품으로 모더니즘을 표방하는 <몬드리안 룩>을 선택하였다. 이 둘은 표현면의 구조분석과 내용면의 의미분석에서 커다란 양식의 차이를 나타내었다. 이세이 미야케의 <애리조나>는 일본전통에 근거를 둔 정신과 자유에 대한 갈망이 폐쇄와 개방으로 의미를 생성해 내어 자유와 구속의 은유적 표현으로 나타났으며, 야수마사의 남성이면서 여성이기를 원하는 성과 정체성에 대한 혼란은 일본의 전통색인 붉은 그물망으로 표현되어 현실에서의 구속을 상징하고 있다. 즉 두 작가의 사회문화적 뿌리인 동양과 일본의 근저는 서양의 자유로운 개방적 사고와 믹스되어 의미작용 한 것으로 보인다. 이에 반해 <몬드리안 룩> 은 감상자 누구나 어떤 해석 없이도 의상을 받아들일 수 있는 표현면과 내용면으로 구성되어진다. 이미 미술작품으로서 해석되어진 현존의 작품을 명시적으로 제시함으로서 부재에 대한 해석을 요구하지 않는 단순한 기표 기의 작용으로, 실용적인 일반적 의상을 예술적 작품의 고부가가치로서 해석해 주길 바라고 있다. 다분히 해석적인 측면에서 본다면 기호사각형을 통한 분석은 작품에 내재된 작가의 표현의도와 내면세계의 가치를 해석하기에 적절한 방법이었음을 알 수 있었으며, 의상이 단순히 입을 수 있는 대상으로서가 아닌 의미작용을 통해 다의성을 갖는 커뮤니케이션의 매체임을 알 수 있었다.

These days, there are many artists. They want to describe their various messages using self-made garment. These are so much argumentative and analytic. An appreciator of art wants to decode art designers connotation using self-coding works and interpretation. These activities require filling up their own absenteeism. This paper is firstly devided into the content and expression. Each segregated parts are possibly abstracting every unit. To organize them, this paper uses quadrangle signs. This dissertation is targeting the writer`s the self-willing interpretation. To describe and embody a pair of heterogeneous opposition and describe the artist`s meaningful works, as you know, these things realize metaphorically expression and effectively refill up the absenteeism. For this, I analyzed , which is one of post-modern masterpiece of Issey Miyake and selected to analyze the modernism comparatively. They showed the big difference between the structural analysis and meaningful content. Issey Miyake`s answers the openness and closing of the traditional Japanese culture and metaphorically describes its liberty and restriction. Yasumasa`s chaos, he was in a chaotic state, even though he was a guy but he also wanted to be a woman. His chaotic sexual identity was described by a red net. It symbolized the restriction of reality. Two artists` social and cultural background is a hybrid. The oriental culture is mixed with the occidental openness and influenced Issey Miyake`s works. In comparison with Issey Miyake`s work, consists of contents and expression parts, so we can easily understand its garment style without any special interpretation. Express clearly existing artworks and no require special interpretation and just embody and describe their practical casuals as highly value added artistic products. In the view of explanation, quadrangle signs are useful to analyze the artist`s intentions and values of Inner mindsets. I can understand that garment is not a just cloth. It`s a powerful and diversified media to communicate each others using meaningful actions.
