영화 속에 표현된 복식형태는 영화의 주제와 흐름, 이미지를 결정짓는 매우 중요한 요소로써, 등장인물의 성격과 내면적 심리, 가치관, 태도 등을 암시하며, 심미적인 측면에서 영화의 시각적 효과를 상승시키는 중요한 역할을 한다. 본 연구는 영화〈드라큐라〉에 나타난 19세기말의 복식에 초점을 맞추어, 복식사적 고증을 바탕으로 사실적으로 재현된 복식형태를 분석함으로써 영화적 효과와 더불어 영화예술에 나타난 복식의 시대적 표현성을 고찰하였다. 연구결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 영화 〈드라큐라〉의상의 복식사적 고증은 그 시대적 배경이 되는 19세기말 유럽사회로서, 격동적인 세기말적 사회상을 반영하고 있다. 남성복은 사실적인 복식사적 측면에서 재현되었으나, 여성복은 19세기말의 시대적인 고증에 입각한 전형적인 버슬 스타일(Bustle Style)과 디자이너의 창의적인 디자인으로 해석되는 버슬과 아워글라스 스타일(Hourglass Style)이 혼합된 실루엣을 보여주어, 영화의상의 심미적인 가치와 더불어 영화의 완성도를 높이는데 기여하였다.

Costume displayed in a movie suggests personalities, internal psychology, values and attitudes of the characters and plays an important role of heightening the visual effect in the aesthetic aspect, as a very significant component to determine theme, plot and image of the movie. The study focused on the last 19C costume expressed in 〈Dracula〉, analyze the costume which was represented realistically based on the historical investigation and then study on the historical costume expressed in the movie with visual effect. To sum up, the features of costumes in the movie, 〈Bram Stocker` s Dracula〉 are as follows; For the historical investigation of costumes in 〈Bram Stocker` s Dracula〉, it reflected agitated fin-de-siecle social conditions of Europe in the end of the nineteenth century, the historical background. The men`s costumes was represented in the realistic historical aspect of costume, while the women`s dress showed typical Bustle Style proved by historical investigation in the end of the 19C and combined silhouettes of Bustle and Hourglass Style interpreted as creative designs of the designers, contributed to not only enhancement of aesthetic value but also accmplishment of the movie by showing costume.
