This study set out to develop a countertransference behavior inventory based on the content. It also aimed at testing the validity of an inventory developed by investigating the relationship between the inventory itself and the therapeutic alliance and child psychotherapy process. In an attempt to develop appropriate content for such a countertransference behavior inventory for play therapists, a group of play therapists was interviewed to identify potentially useful countertransference behavior items. The play therapists participated in gathering data. The data collected were analyzed in terms of frequency and percentage and then underwent a factor analysis, reliability test, correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis. The research findings were as follows: First, the test results of the selected items for factor validity reveal that the countertransference behavior inventory included four subfactors of ``avoidance``, ``control``, ``inappropriate intervention``, and ``overprotectiveness`` over 33 items. Second, the test results of criterion-related validity indicate that the overall countertransference behavior inventory for play therapists and each of the subfactors had significant correlations with the inventory of countertransference behavior(ICB) and thus was deemed to be valid. Finally, relationships of the developed countertransference behavior inventory for play therapists with the therapeutic alliance and the child psychotherapy process were also examined. As for the impact of play therapists` countertransference behavior on the therapeutic alliance and child psychotherapy process, countertransference behavior was seen to be an explanatory variable which had an influence on the prediction of the therapeutic alliance and child psychotherapy process.
