본 연구는 인간의 행복(happiness)에 대한 사회적 배제의 영향을 살펴보려는데 그 주된 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 본 연구에서는 1982~2009년까지의 28개년 간을 대상으로 우리나라 국민들이 느끼는 행복감에 있어서 경제에서의 배제, 사회에서의 배제, 정치에서의 배제 등 요인들의 영향력과 상대적 기여도를 추정 평가하였다. 실증적인 검증을 위한 조사설계로서 종단적 설계(longitudinal design)를 이용하였으며, 측정의 타당성을 검증하기 위해 요인분석을, 행복에 대한 사회적 배제의 영향력을 살펴보기 위해 다중회귀분석을 이용하였다. 분석결과 첫째, 경제에서의 배제 요인은 행복에 대해 부(-)적으로 가장 큰 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 사회에서의 배제 요인 또한 행복에 부(-)적인 영향을 미치는 중요한 요인으로 드러났다. 셋째, 정치에서의 배제 요인은 기대와 달리 행복에 대하여 통계적으로 유의미한 영향 미치지 못한 것으로 나타났다. 결론적으로 최근 한국사회가 당면하고 있는 행복에 대한 논의는 기존의 경제적 측면의 단편적인 접근보다는 사회적 배제라는 개념과 더불어 접근하는 것이 보다 바람직하다고 본다. 이러한 다중적 의미의 사회적 배제는 행복과 중대한 인과관계에 있으며, 향후 시민의 행복을 제고시키기 위한 정책수립 시 기존의 경제적 중심의 논의에서 벗어나 복합적 관점에서의 접근이 필요하고, 특히 경제적 측면에서의 배제와 동시에 사회적 관계 및 참여를 극복할 수 있는 수단을 고려해야 하고 또한 그 우선순위를 반영해야 함을 시사한다고 볼 수 있다.

The main purpose of this study is to explain the impact of social exclusion on human happiness. To answer this question, this study has covered the time range from 1982 to 2006 and limited the spatial range in Korea to estimate or to evaluate the appropriate factors, and focused on factors (economic factor, social factor, political factor) that influence of the social exclusion on human happiness, Methodologically, this study applies the longitudinal design for the verification of empirical study, For analyzing data, the factor analysis is first used for validity test, then the multiple regression analysis was performed with the Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) method to examine a causal relationship between social exclusion and human happiness. Analysis results are as follows. First of all, the result shows that economic exclusion factor has a negative effect on human happiness. Second, social exclusion factor has a negative effect on human happiness. Third, unlike the expectation, political exclusion factor is not statistically significant, which can be interpreted that political exclusion factor has no effect on human happiness. In conclusion, a discussion on human happiness confronting Korea society must be considered the comprehensive approach with the concept of social exclusion rather than piecemeal approach of the economic aspects, because the multiple meanings of social exclusion shows that the causal relationship between social exclusion and human happiness. The policy making to enhance the human happiness must be considered the comprehensive approach with the concept of social exclusion away from piecemeal approach of the economic aspects.
