본 연구는 한국의 초기 자본주의 시대인 1960-1970년대를 중심으로 한국의 정치·사회·문화적 맥락 아래서 춤추는 몸이 어떻게 시대의 가치를 재현하고 또 저항하고 재생성 하였는지를 사회문화적 관점에서 재조명하면서 춤의 새로운 역사쓰기를 시도한 것이다. 이를 통해 춤이 다양한 정치·사회·문화적 관계들을 반영하는 메타포로서 사회에서 가치 있는 하나의 발언으로서 의미가 있음을 논의하고자 했다. 특히, 1960, 70년대 국가의 춤에 대한 통제와 단속과 더불어 한편에서는 전통적인 춤에 대한 박제화, 제도권화를 통한 몸의 권력화가 이루어지고 있었고, 동시에 미디어를 통해 유행한 디스코의 춤 움직임은 개인의 자유와 해방을 상징하는 동시에 사회의 이데올로기인 가부장제를 옹호하고 성적 정체성을 전시하는 몸으로서 권력을 체현하고 있었다. 이 시대의 춤추는 몸은 춤의 형식을 통해 남성과 여성의 분리된 성적 정체성을 체현하고, 예술춤 또한 제도권의 확립과 더불어 여성의 성적 정체성을 의도적으로 강조하며 여성의 지위와 권위를 사회에서 드러내는 권력화의 움직임을 나타냈다. 이처럼 춤은 권력을 반영함과 동시에 또 다시 저항하며 능동적 발화의 과정을 반복하고 있었다. 춤추는 몸은 이데올로기와 담론의 장이며 하나의 메타포로서 사회의 인식 변화와 다양한 체제와 양상을 체현하며 현재의 춤문화 모습을 이루어 왔다. 따라서 본 논의는 춤추는 몸이 시대의 수많은 복잡다단한 관계들을 드러낼 뿐만 아니라 춤을 통해 대중의 정체성과 실천적 행위들을 전개해왔다는 점에서 미래 춤 연구의 패러다임을 넓히는 가능성을 제시하고자 한다.

Taking into consideration the socio-cultural discourse on the body generated in environments and approaches to the body in Korean historical writing, this study argues that attention to the dancing body can offer new possibilities for historical praxis. Conceiving the body as a site of historical investigation can shed new light on many seemingly embodied historical processes. The purpose of this study is to characterize the meanings and properties of dancing body in the sociocultural context by reviewing aspects of changes in the 1960s and 1970s. Dancing body was re-distributed in the history of the body as a possibility of limitless variations while incessantly reproduced, practiced, and communicated. In the 1960s and 1970s` Dancing body reproduced its implications while it was incessantly oppressed and was resisting under political, social, cultural backgrounds. Despite the 1960s-70s`control over dance by the Park`s government, the traditional dance was institutionalized, and at the same time, the style of disco, which was in vogue through media, sufficiently realized the power through the movement that advocated patriarchy and spoke for sexual identities. This study is an attempt at re-writing the scholarship of dance by trying to study dance in connection with the discourses found within the sociocultural context and finding out meanings overlooked in history.
