본 연구는 전력산업이 철강산업을 포함하여 우리나라 국민경제에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 산업연관분석을 이용하여 전력산업이 국민경제에 미치는 영향이 상당히 크고, 철강산업에 대한 전력산업의 물가파급효과와 공급지장효과가 크다는 것을 분석했는데, 이는 전력요금 인상과 계절적 전력공급 차질이 철강산업에 주는 영향이 크다는 것을 의미한다. 마지막으로 산업간 연쇄효과를 이용하여 전력산업은 최종수요적 원시산업형, 철강산업은 중간수요적 제조업형임을 확인할 수 있었다.

The aim of this paper is to investigate the effect of electricity sector on Korean national economy including the Korean steel industry. Using the input-output analysis this paper reveals that electricity sector had large effects on overall Korean economy, and the impacts of rise in electricity rates on the prices and electricity supply shortage effect on the steel products were significant, implying that rising price and seasonal shortage of electricity can have considerable impacts on Korean steel industry. Finally, applying the inter-industry linkage effect, this paper found that electricity and steel industry can be categorized into final primary production and intermediate manufacture, respectively.
