When the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom was founded in the middle of the nineteenth century, Hong Xiuquan was the most important leader and an ideology initiator. Hong claimed himself as the savior, calling for the establishment of an earthly paradise where justice could be realized. After the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom was founded, his ideal system of justice failed. Hong yet was still eager to abolish the traditional authority and to build up a theocratic kingdom, to which Yang Xiuqing voiced his dissidence. After rooting up Yang, Hong became even more radical towards his ideal theocratic kingdom, thus estranging himself from the masses in the end and bringing his Taiping Heavenly Kingdom to its doom.
