Down-regulation of E-cadherin is the hallmark of the epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT), which plays important roles in cancer progression. Low molecular weight chitosan oligosaccharide (COS-L) increased E-cadherin expression and reduced Snail expression in human breast cancer cells. We suggest COS-L may inhibit EMT phenomenon in breast cancer cells.
