본 연구에서는 2012년 3월 15일 발효될 예정인 한?미 FTA가 대구?경북 지역에 미치는 경제적 파급효과와 산업부문별 영향 및 이에 대한 대응방안을 살펴보았다. 한?미 FTA 발효 이후 대구?경북 지역의 섬유, 자동차부품, IT 및 가전제품의 수출은 다소 증가하고, 철강 분야는 별로 영향을 받지 않으며, 정밀기계, 정밀화학, 쇠고기, 돼지고기, 사과, 포도, 대두 등에서 비교적 큰 타격을 받을 것으로 전망된다. 한?미 FTA는 농축산물, 과수 부문에서 큰 피해가 우려되지만, 대구?경북의 지역내총생산, 고용, 무역액, 제조업 생산을 증대시키고 소비자 후생을 증가시킬 것으로 분석되었다. 이 연구에서는 대구?경북 지역경제와 주요 산업에 미치는 영향과 지역산업계의 대응과제를 제시하였는데, 지역 산업들은 해당 업종별로 구체적인 대응방안을 세워 추진해야 한다.

This paper intends to analyze the impacts of an FTA with the United States(KORUS FTA) on major industries in Daegu-Gyeongbuk region and derive policy measures for the regional government and those industries. The study begins with a comprehensive analysis on the trade relations between U.S. and Daegu-Gyeongbuk region and investigates how the KORUS FTA affects the regional economy and major industries in Daegu-Gyeongbuk province. The Korea-US FTA would have positive impacts on major industries such as textile/clothing, electronics, steel / metal, and automobile components in the region. However, the Korea-US FTA would adversely affects major products such as livestock/fruits/grain products, precision machinery, precision chemical products in the region. Therefore, the regional government and industries should also derive policy measures to make use of the KORUS FTA and to minimize material injuries on the agriculture/livestock, precision machinery and chemical industries in Daegu-Gyeongbuk region.
